MUS 171 - Beginning Mandolin

3 Credits

An introductory level course on the history of the mandolin, regional musicians, influences, and performance with emphasis on the old time styles found in the central Appalachian region. Classroom instruction will include lecture, demonstrations, assignments, reports, and quizzes. Student practice will be required outside of classroom hours.
